Don't let severe weather catch you off guard
As fellow Texans, we understand the devastation floods, hurricanes, tornadoes and winter storms can bring. And we know flip-flops and sweaters can go together, and severe weather can pop up without warning. That’s why we want to help you prepare for whatever Mother Nature may bring our way.

We encourage you to print each checklist and take it with you as you shop and prepare. Be sure to share them with your friends and family as well!
Our preparedness checklists show you how to:
- Create an emergency kit to ensure you’re stocked up on essentials like nonperishable food, water, medical supplies, flashlights and radios. Be sure to customize your kit to fit your family's personal needs.
- Pack a personal "go" bag so you can evacuate quickly and efficiently, if needed. Discuss the evacuation plan with your family so that when the time comes, they're ready to act.
- Develop a communication plan with your family. This will ensure everyone is informed, on the same page and operating in a way that maximizes their safety.
- Protect vital documents so you can easily identify yourself, file claims and request assistance. Important files should be saved in a waterproof, fireproof bag and backed up digitally.
- Prepare your home and property to help reduce the risk of injuries and damages. Now is the time to review your home and car insurance policies, seal windows and doors, remove flowerpots and other yard decorations and check to see if your storm shutters are in working condition.
Taking these steps to prepare ahead of severe weather will help keep your family safe and give you peace of mind that you have a plan in place.
